Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Karisma Camper Model History
In Nov 1986 Autohomes introduced a new model based on the VW T4 Long Wheel Base (LWB) platform called the Autohomes Karisma Camper. Note that the Autohomes Karisma name had been used previously for a VW T25 based model. The VW T4 Autohomes Karisma had a solid high top roof and the interior had a seating / bedroom area behind the cab seats and then further back a kitchen area with sink, fridge, and two burner gas hob / grill and then at the rear a shower and bathroom area with fold down washbasin and cassette toilet. This was a 2 berth camper and the roof had storage cupboards inside at the front and on the outside a tailgate ladder leading to a rear roof rack. Specification included a hot water heater, propex blown air heating and a mains hook up facility with Zig control panel and leisure battery charger. 3) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Karisma Colour Options As far as I know the VW Autohomes Karisma was available in 1 colour. T7T7 Grey White R902 (Grauweiß) (with white roof)
4) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Karisma Furniture Specification The Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Karisma layout consisted of:
AA) Settee that converts to Two x Single Beds (one 1829 mm x 610 mm and one 1880 mm x 610 mm) or Double Bed (1829 mm x 1600 mm).
EB) Forward facing rear seat with three point inertia seat belt.
EE) Fully adjustable swivelling captains cab seats upholstered in same material as rear seats. Seats had headrests and adjustable armrests.
F) Rear inertia seat belts. HH) Free standing folding table that is stored in rear wardrobe when not in use .
II) Spinflo two burner hob and grill.

T) Thermostatically controlled Propex blown air heating system which is flued to exterior of vehicle.
Heater outlet and heater are beneath the front facing rear seat as shown in photo below.
U) Electrolux RM 4201S three way (gas / 12 volt / 240 volt operated) refrigerator (with electronic ignition system) below. Fridge has internal freezer compartment.
W) Shower Cubicle In Rear Bathroom - Shower Tray is Accessed By Lifting Floor Panel - Door Slides Out To Seperate Bathroom Area
X) Carver Cascade Rapide water heater (located under rear settee).
Y) 75 ?? litre (16.5 gallon) or 78 litre (17 gallon) fresh water tank for pressurised water system with electrically pumped water tap via a self priming Shureflo water pump. Externally locking filler cap. Z) 38 ?? Litre (8.3 gallon) or 25 litre (5.5 litre) wastewater tank.
ZZ)Shower and dressing room separated by dividing sliding door.
Other features include: Stainless steel ladder with rear roof rack.
Full carpeting throughout. CEC 225 SPN (Plug In Systems) 240 volt mains unit for electric hook up with safety protection via RCCD circuit breaker and two MCB’s (under rear settee seat).
Zig Marque ||| electrical control panel with Zig X-7 charger (located under rear settee seat) for leisure battery, individual fuses for each electrical appliance, master switchs for 12 volt water pump, lighting, propex heater and a water level gauge and a 12 volt outlet socket. Internal 240 Volt mains outlet socket.
Opening sliding window above settee and in sliding door. Fluorescent lights.
Rear seat restraint straps. Head rests on both cab seats. Fire extinguisher and blanket. Smoke alarm. Intermittent wipe and two speed wipers. Padded steering wheel. Two courtesy lights. Blinds with flyscreens / curtains all round. Specially selected seat fabrics with fire retardant foam. Heated rear window with wash wipe. Wheel trims.
5) Options available at extra cost included: Not aware of any as this was a fully equipped van as standard.
6) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Karisma Hightop Roof Specification Fully insulated roof.
O) Opening roof vent for fresh air.
Opening double glazed plastic roof side windows.
7) Volkswagen T4 Transporter Autohomes Karisma Side Stripes and Logos The coachline stripes on the front, side and rear were green and blue.
The roof had stripes at the front, rear and side and a Karisma logo on the front and rear as shown below:
